Greyhound launches new Vancouver-Whistler
Two round trips daily after recent cuts to service
Greyhound Canada, which halved the numbers of buses on its Sea to Sky region route at the end of February, has brought in a new express bus service between Vancouver and Whistler.
The two daily round-trip express bus services do not stop at any other locations between the city and the resort, cutting 30 minutes from the usual 2-hour-and-30-minute trip. The new service began on March 20.
The buses travelling north leave Vancouver daily at 6:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., while southbound buses leave Whistler Village at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
"We are thrilled to offer this upgraded service at an everyday affordable fare, which is what our customers deserve," said Stuart Kendrick, senior vice president of Greyhound Canada, in a release.
As part of cuts to Greyhound routes throughout British Columbia, overall service from Vancouver to Whistler Village was cut in half on Feb. 28, from a minimum of eight round trips per day to four, and from 56 round trips per week to 28.
Service to Garibaldi-Squamish was cut by the same amount, while service to Pemberton fell from four round trips per day to three.
Tickets for the new express bus, with everyday fares starting at $1, can be booked at www.mygreyhoundexpress.ca.
